Fair Food Forum: A conversation on Food Justice
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers: is a worker-based human rights organization internationally recognized for its achievements in the fields of social responsibility, human trafficking, and gender-based violence at work.
The CIW was awarded the Presidential Medal for Extraordinary efforts combating Modern Slavery in 2015. They have created a worker-initiated model for ensuring farm worker justice
that is the gold standard in the United States. Two Ohio companies, Kroger and Wendy’s have not joined the highly-praised Fair Food Program created by the workers to ensure safety, freedom from forced labor and better wages and conditions. You will learn more about how you can support their efforts. CIW will also be joined by the Cincinnati Interfaith Workers Center and Our Harvest to discuss the Good Food Purchasing Policy, a food justice campaign with an emphasis on transforming purchasing policies at local school districts to align them with the values of the Fair Food Program.
