Live the World with Slow Food
Slow Food is an International non-profit Association present in over 150 countries with well-established network based local Chapters. Our mission is to defend biodiversity in the food supply, to promote taste education and to connect producers of Good, Clean, Fair food with consumers. Our hope is to create discerning educated consumers which will in turn help them to become co-producers (individuals who are conscientious of what they eat so that they can partner with the producers and positively influence their choices.)
The beauty of belonging to the Slow Food network, as a member and co-producers, is that wherever you go in the world you can connect with local Chapters and live a memorable local food experience. Throughout our network, you can get advice about where to find the best local food, such as bread, organically grown vegetables, salumi, raw milk cheese, most valuable local wine and beer, gelato, croissants and much more.
In several countries Slow Food develops projects such as Presidia and the Ark of Taste which partners with local producers to build a micro-market for endangered food. Through the local Chapters you can meet the people who make the food, learn how it is made, reawaken and train the senses, and rediscover the joy of eating. Just by appreciating and tasting the endangered food, you can help these micro-producers contribute in creating a virtuous micro-economy based on local food.
Other projects like Snail of Approval, Osterie d’Italia, and Slow Wine promote the Slow Food network among cooks, farmers, wine and food makers. This network develops a fantastic producers/co-producers alliance for the enjoyment of excellent food and drink combined with the effort to save countless food traditions.
Remember that as Slow Food international member, wherever you go in the country and in the planet, you can get in touch with local Chapters to live unforgettable local food experience. You will not be a day tourist but a warmly welcomed Slow Food guest!
