Our first farm tour of the season is the organic Farm at Bear Creek. This is a 51-acre family farm in Clermont County that raises Certified Organic vegetables and herbs employing sustainable agricultural methods and produces value-added products such as salsas, soups, sauces, dressings, jams, and dipping oils at its licensed kitchen/cannery. 51 acres of USDA certified foods locally sourced and preserved within a Department of Agriculturally licensed cannery. Owners Jeff and Sandra Ashba and Darick and Libby Massey wouldn’t want you to miss the opportunity to try their own product line of salsas, sauces, soups and dressings.
Being certified organic is important to the Ashbas and Masseys as they maintain yearly inspections and certifications. They implement the best in practice organic farming techniques and maintain the highest standards per the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA)
Come out and see how Slow Food can be done with our Farm tour (11:00-noon) which includes a wagon ride to the upper field; other fields are within walking distance.
The farm tour will be followed by a light lunch of soup (choice of two), salad (fresh from the field), homemade bread (with dipping oil), dessert, water, tea, and complimentary wine tastings from neighboring winery Meranda Nixon. Lunch: $7.00 for adults; $3.00 for children (cash only)
Opportunity to purchase the farm’s value-added products and to order wines from Meranda Nixon. Some vegetable plants may be available for purchase.
Car pool will depart at 10:00 a.m. from the parking lot at the Skytop Remke Market near the Beechmont Levee in Anderson (5218 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45230).
